Tall, lush palm trees aren’t only beautiful, they also grow one of our favourite superfoods. Acai grows on 60 to 80-foot trees, which harvesters climb to cut the branches. Once picked, the fruit is typically frozen quickly to lock in nutrients. Acai berries contain many beneficial compounds, such as powerful antioxidants, fiber, monounsaturated fats, iron, calcium, fiber, and vitamin A. It is said to help prevent arthritis, inflammation, obesity, erectile dysfunction, neurological diseases, and even allergies. It’s a superfood thanks to its high antioxidant properties – 2 times more than pomegranates and 3 times more than blueberries!
