Hi!! My name is Danielle, I’m a certified professional makeup artist who happens to use only organic and cruelty-free products. Making the switch into a cruelty-free lifestyle can be costly, let alone confusing and overwhelming, which is why I’m excited to provide men and women engaging and helpful content on my YouTube channel. This is where I offer entertaining and educational videos that provide thorough tutorials, while encouraging my viewers to make the switch to a cleaner and greener beauty routine!

I’m so excited to be a part of the Yoso Community because I am also dedicated to supporting a healthier planet and community. I am passionate about revolutionizing the beauty industry to be completely cruelty-free with as little to no chemicals as possible, and I love that Yoso continually strives to not only source the healthiest ingredients, but also reduce waste, and keep the environmental footprint at a minimum.

We asked a few questions about her dairy-free lifestyle as part of this series, Living Dairy Free:

Why are you dairy-free?

I’ve been dairy-free for over 5 or 6 years now, and since have noticed dramatic changes in my body and overall health. I first decided to go dairy-free when I began educating myself on the truths behind the treatment of dairy cows, and the industry in general. The toll it took on the animals and the environment were not something I could support, and made the switch immediately. Ice cream was my biggest feat, but moving into a dairy free lifestyle has introduced me into many other options that in my opinion taste SO much better than the dairy versions. Also, working in makeup and skincare I find that dairy is a big culprit for many skin conditions, issues, and of course inflammation. I couldn’t believe how much dairy exists in so many products – both in food and beauty!

Top five favourite dairy-free products?

Culcherd

Vegan Stokes Cheese

CHAO

Yoso

Earth Balance

Favourite local spot to eat that accommodates dairy-free?

My favourite spot to eat local that accommodates dairy free is definitely Fresh, but every week I feel like there are so many great new restaurants popping up which is so exciting!!

Favourite place to shop for groceries?

My favourite place to shop for groceries are at the Farmer’s Markets during the summer months (here in Liberty Village) as well as Kensington Market. We go to various organic food supply stores, Tutti Frutti has really great prices for tofu, considering the amount of grams you get per package. I really try to support local brands and suppliers when and where I can, but I’ve also tried some online organic food delivery services in the past to help save on time, and gas!
