If you’ve never tried a tigernut, you might say they taste a bit like coconut, cantaloupe, and almonds. – Andrea Orazi
Tigernuts, not a tiger and not a nut – in fact, they’re actually nut-free! Tigernuts are small vegetable tubers that grow underground, sometimes also referred to as chufa, nut grass, and yellow nutsedge. They’re high in fibre, magnesium, and vitamin C and E, and low in carbohydrates and calories. Tigernuts are rich in a “resistant starch” prebiotic, which benefits your microbiome (gut flora). We love that they’re allergy-friendly foods, free from not only nuts, but they’re also vegan, gluten-free and soy-free too!
How to Enjoy:
Drizzle Tigernut Oil on a salad
Bake with Tigernut flour (naturally gluten-free!)
Drink Horchata or Tigernut Milk
Tigernut Granola
Tigernut Icecream
